Mactaquac Provincial Park is near Fredericton, NB and just above the Mactaquac Dam on the Saint John River. We popped up for a day trip today to visit some friends who were camping there.
The campground has two playgrounds, a smaller one suitable for our 2-year-old and another that’s geared for kiddos 5 years and up. There’s also a small beach area – it’s rocky and not the nicest beach we’ve seen, but the water was cool and refreshing; exactly what we needed on a hot, humid day. A collection of remote-controlled airboats flying from the beach kept the big kid (my husband) entertained while our daughter played in the water with her friends. I believe the park has several other beaches which may be larger.
Overall, the campground is clean and well-maintained. While it wasn’t a long enough visit to properly assess the park, we liked what we saw of the campground and we’ll be back again for a longer visit!
